Reading on-chain transfers: deposits are not confirmed sales

A transfer into an exchange address shows that assets moved. By itself, it does not establish that a trade was executed, identify the execution price, or tell us whether the sender still owns the assets. The same distinction applies to withdrawals: moving tokens out is not proof of a fresh purchase.

When reading a whale alert, separate the observed transaction from the interpretation. Check the timestamp, token amount and address attribution, then look for evidence of an actual trade before calling the transfer buying or selling pressure. Keep transfer value, trading volume and realized profit separate; they measure different things.
