South Korean payment company Toss and Korea Minting, Security Printing and ID Card Operating Corp. (KOMSCO) completed a blockchain payment proof of concept for local gift certificates on OP Stack, according to Optimism's blog. According to Foresight News, the test combined top-ups, spending, and settlement into a single blockchain transaction, allowing merchants to receive funds immediately instead of waiting for the traditional settlement cycle of several days.

The trial was conducted in an isolated test environment and has not gone live. The two companies have not announced a formal launch timeline.
