$ZRO : The STG merge is complete—but is there a trade?
Binance confirmed on 7 Oct that it completed the Stargate Finance token merge into LayerZero, distributing 0.08634 ZRO per STG. This is a completed exchange conversion, not a new listing or evidence of fresh buying.
Why ZRO belongs on an event-driven watchlist: former STG holders now face a hold-or-rebalance decision. Whether that produces selling or sustained demand is the question—not a fact we can infer from the announcement.
At about 18:01 Dubai on 8 Oct, Binance ZRO/USDT traded at 2.053 USDT, down 3.48% over 24h, versus BTC/USDT down 1.12%. ZRO's 15.28M USDT in rolling spot turnover shows activity, not net inflows or a verified volume spike. Binance confirms the pair is open for spot trading.
My filter: can the market absorb any post-conversion selling without revisiting the observed 1.998 USDT daily low? A recovery needs sustained buying, not just a merge headline. That low is a reference point, not guaranteed support.
Risks: recipient selling, a broader market decline, and a catalyst already priced in. The conversion ratio itself creates no guaranteed arbitrage. Operationally, Binance says deposits and withdrawals of old STG are no longer supported—check supported assets before transferring.
Would you hold converted ZRO, or wait for evidence that selling has been absorbed?
