🔴 August 13, 2026: Core Lightning devs got flooded with AI-generated vulnerability reports. They spent 10 days checking each one, and the result shocked everyone — a lot of these bugs turned out to be 100% REAL.
🔴 August 23 — Emergency Warning Issued: • Around 3,750 BTC stuck across 33,000+ channels and 16,000+ nodes was at risk 😳 ​ • Node operators were told in plain words: update now or go offline — otherwise your funds could be gone ​ • They even killed support for version 26.04 completely so nobody could ignore it
🔴 August 28: The emergency patch v26.06.7 finally dropped — but here's the smart move, the technical details stayed locked under a 2-week embargo so attackers couldn't get the blueprint ​
🔴 September 9: And it didn't stop there — another critical flaw was found in Alby Hub (v1.7.0–v1.18.5). An attacker could've spent user funds directly. Luckily only 1 user got affected 😬 ​
⚡ The part that honestly scares me: The Bitcoin Red Team pointed AI at 390 Bitcoin repos — and in just 27.5 hours it found 4,962 issues, 85 of them critical ​. Think about that for a second. AI is now finding bugs faster than human auditors ever could. Attackers can use the exact same tools.
