Imaginá recibir una notificación de la aplicación que usás para consultar tu billetera. Te avisa que alguien sincronizó tu cartera con un teléfono en Moscú.... Entrás para impedirlo y aparece una cuenta regresiva. Todo te empuja a actuar rápido.
Eso ocurrió el 17 de octubre de 2026 con usuarios de LIQUID, la aplicación que acompaña a las billeteras físicas NGRAVE.
El engaño tenía un detalle especialmente peligroso: la alerta llegaba por el canal utilizado para las notificaciones legítimas. Los atacantes habían comprometido el acceso de un proveedor externo.... NGRAVE reconoció el incidente en su informe del 19 de octubre....
Al tocar el aviso, la víctima llegaba a una página que imitaba al fabricante. Allí encontraba un botón para rechazar la supuesta sincronización. Pero el siguiente paso era la trampa: pedían las palabras de recuperación para bloquear al intruso.
La persona creía estar defendiendo sus ahorros mientras entregaba las credenciales necesarias para controlarlos....
Para entender la gravedad: una billetera física protege las claves que permiten mover tus criptomonedas. Pero si alguien obtiene tus credenciales de recuperación, puede reconstruir esa billetera en otro equipo. No necesita llevarse tu dispositivo ni conocer su PIN. Según lo informado por NGRAVE, los atacantes no accedieron directamente a las claves almacenadas en los dispositivos ZERO: aprovecharon las credenciales introducidas en la web falsa.
La empresa informó aproximadamente USD 2,56 millones sustraídos de unas 70 direcciones en cuatro redes, como balance mínimo de su investigación.
Por separado, Bitquery rastreó unos USD 2,65 millones desde 84 billeteras en seis redes. Su propio análisis aclara que no puede demostrar que todas pertenecieran a clientes de NGRAVE.
Ahora bien... ¿Qué podemos aprender de este ataque?
Que una notificación aparezca en una aplicación conocida no garantiza que sus instrucciones sean seguras. Si te lleva a una web que pide tu frase de recuperación para proteger, sincronizar o verificar tu billetera, FRENA.... Comprobá el aviso entrando por tu cuenta al sitio oficial.
Si ya entregaste esas claves, cambiar el PIN no resuelve el problema. Hay que generar una billetera nueva de forma segura y trasladar los fondos restantes en todas las redes afectadas. Guardá capturas, direcciones e identificadores de las transacciones para denunciar.
