The U.S. Senate is reportedly heading toward a cloture vote on the CLARITY Act, and I think the bigger story is what happens if crypto finally gets clearer rules around who regulates what.
For years, one of the biggest problems for the industry hasn’t simply been regulation. It has been regulatory uncertainty.
That uncertainty affects exchanges, DeFi, stablecoins, token issuers and even institutions deciding whether they can safely build or allocate capital onchain.
The revised bill reportedly includes significant changes around ethics, stablecoin yield, DeFi liability and other areas, so passage wouldn't mean every disagreement suddenly disappears.
But clearer market structure could change the conversation from “𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲?” 𝘁𝗼 “𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝘂𝗹𝗲𝘀?”
That distinction could be especially important for sectors like RWAs, where institutional adoption depends heavily on compliance and regulatory certainty.
I’m watching September 15 less as a political event and more as a potential infrastructure moment for the U.S. crypto market.
