Iraq’s government said on August 17 that it will investigate drone attacks targeting the private office of Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and the home of the region’s security chief. Prime Minister Ali Zaydi ordered an investigative committee to find out where the drones were launched and who controlled them. Kurdistan’s security agency said the drones came from inside Iran, but no casualties were reported. It was unclear whether the drones hit their targets. No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks. The investigation is expected to determine the source of the drones and those behind the attacks.
