A token starts trending.

Your feed is full of people talking about it.

Someone calls it “the next big thing.”

Another person says, “Don’t miss this one.”

And suddenly, you’re wondering:

“Should I buy it?”

Before asking that, try a different question:

“Do I actually understand what I’m looking at?”

That’s where DYOR — Do Your Own Research comes in. 🔎

So, what should you actually research?

Start with the project itself.

What does it do?

What problem is it trying to solve?

Who is it built for?

Does it have a real product or use case?

If you can’t explain the project in simple words, that’s probably your first sign to keep researching.

Then look beyond the hype.

Check the token:

  • What is it actually used for?

  • What is the total supply?

  • How are tokens distributed?

  • Are more tokens scheduled to enter circulation?

  • What does the tokenomics look like?

Because sometimes the most important information is hiding behind the hype.

And where did your information come from?

This matters.

Start with the project’s official website, documentation, whitepaper, and official channels.

Then compare what you find with independent sources.

A viral post is attention.

It isn’t automatically research.

🚩 And watch for the classic red flags.

“Guaranteed returns.”

“Buy now before it’s too late.”

“This is your last chance.”

Promises, pressure, and excessive hype should make you slow down—not rush in.

They don’t automatically tell you that a project is bad.

They tell you:

Look closer.

DYOR isn’t about proving that a project is good.

It’s about understanding the full picture.

What looks promising?

What is still unclear?

What could go wrong?

Good research won’t guarantee a perfect decision.

But it can help you avoid making a decision simply because everyone else is talking about it.

Remember:

Hype can make you notice a project.

Research helps you understand it. 🔎
So before following the next trending token, pause.

Read.

Question.

Compare.

And always DYOR.
