Ether.fi Expands Into Crypto Banking With Tokenized Stocks and Portfolio-Backed Loans
Ethereum DeFi platform Ether.fi is expanding beyond staking with a new suite of financial services, including tokenized asset trading, portfolio-backed borrowing, and multi-currency fiat accounts.
The platform will allow users to trade tokenized stocks, precious metals such as gold, and crypto assets directly through its self-custodial app. Ether.fi is also integrating Aave on Optimism, enabling users to lend assets and borrow against their portfolios without having to sell their existing holdings.
According to Ether.fi founder and CEO Mike Silagadze, the initial collateral lineup includes Ethereum, Bitcoin, Hyperliquid-related assets, ETHFI, and selected tokenized stocks and gold, with additional assets expected to be introduced over time.
The expansion also includes fiat accounts supporting more than 30 currencies and multiple payment methods, strengthening Ether.fi's push toward becoming an all-in-one crypto banking platform.
However, tokenized stocks and metals will not be available to U.S. users, reflecting the regulatory restrictions surrounding tokenized securities.
The move highlights a broader DeFi trend: platforms are increasingly combining staking, lending, traditional assets, payments, and borrowing into unified financial applications.
