European stocks outperformed other global markets on Thursday as strong corporate earnings attracted investors amid renewed concerns about AI-related trading. According to Sina Finance, the Stoxx Europe 600 rose 0.8%, with market sentiment also supported by reports of the Trump administration's involvement in ongoing talks on a temporary peace agreement with Iran and data showing that the U.S. economy grew at its fastest pace in a year in the third quarter.
Shell gained 2.1% after reporting the second-highest profit in its history. Airbus rose 2.3% after keeping its full-year aircraft delivery target and financial outlook unchanged.
Financial services, construction, and automotive stocks led gains, while consumer staples and mining shares lagged. Banks were also weak: BBVA fell 2.6% after reporting results, offsetting gains in Société Générale following its earnings release.
European stocks rose as U.S. indexes fell, weighed down by technology shares. Disappointing results from Alphabet renewed concerns about heavy AI spending, and the Nasdaq 100 dropped about 1.4%. Asian stocks also closed lower earlier after Samsung Electronics reported disappointing results.
