According to CNBC, Anthropic is preparing for a potential Nasdaq IPO, likely targeting a mid-November debut, as opposition to AI and data centers grows. Local communities opposed data center-related ballot measures in 40 out of 41 cases during this week’s midterm elections, and candidates who backed stricter AI regulation won in Michigan, Ohio, Texas and Georgia. Investors see Anthropic targeting a valuation of $1 trillion to $1.5 trillion, down from the $2 trillion target floated in recent months. In an amended IPO prospectus this week, the company disclosed about $895.4 billion in aggregate committed spending under purchase commitments and lease agreements, substantially all related to compute and infrastructure.
