Morgan Stanley is among the first banks to put U.S. equities and Treasuries into tokenized form through DTCC’s new Tokenization Service.

The bank said on November 3–4, 2026 that it has converted DTC-held U.S. stocks and Treasuries into tokenized “digital twins” via the DTCC Tokenization Service, which launched October 28. DTC holds more than USD 114 trillion under custody; the tokens keep the same ownership rights and economic entitlements as the originals and can convert back to book-entry form. The service currently runs on the Canton Network and DTCC’s private Besu network, with more chains planned for 2027.

Twenty DTC participants have signed on so far, including Bank of America, Citi, J.P. Morgan, Fidelity, and UBS, after a December 2025 SEC no-action path covering Russell 1000 stocks, major index ETFs, and U.S. Treasuries. Morgan Stanley also still targets tokenized equity support on its own ATS in Q1 2027.
