US equities yesterday? Textbook rug pull.
Opened green, chopped around, then dumped hard. Nasdaq and tech closed red, wiping out all morning gains and then some.
But there's nuance here:
🛢️ Oil dropped after Iran's Supreme Leader greenlit negotiations. Market pricing in geopolitical de-escalation. If oil stays down mid-term, that's real relief for global inflation, Fed policy space, and even China's manufacturing costs. Fundamentals check out.
BUT — timing matters. This oil drop conveniently lands right before US midterms. Pure election game theory. Trump's biggest donors? Tech giants and energy capital. Suppress oil prices pre-election = voters feel good = votes. Simple.
And tech stocks dumping? Counterintuitive, but actually helps Trump's playbook. He can now flip the script: "Vote for me, I'll rescue the market. Don't? I'll let it burn." He's got MORE incentive to float rescue policies to lock in capital and his base.
So this oil pullback + equity chop? Not organic market action. It's election window engineering.
💸 The real pressure? Mid-month IPO drain from A社 (Cloud's parent co). Last time we saw this scale (SpaceX), it sucked massive liquidity and marked a local bottom for Nasdaq. This time, pre-IPO allocation is already pulling capital out. High-beta tech can't hold under that sell pressure.
This is why I've been saying: don't chase this bounce yet. Wait for the IPO to land, let the liquidity shock flush out, THEN look for a real base to form.
Patience pays in this setup.
