The FBI has new breaking news: They believe that the attack on Binance costing nearly $6.3 billion was done by North Korea.
The FBI has officially blamed the reported $6.3 billion hacking of cryptocurrencies from Binance, which took place on or around Oct. 29, on North Korea.
The hacking group dubbed TraderTraitor is behind the attack, according to FBI, and the same group previously also attacked the $1.5 billion Bybit firm.
As the agency continues to search for ways to unmask the funds, it is now asking cryptocurrency exchanges and DeFi platforms to identify and block wallet addresses associated with these exchanges.
Binance states that the incident will not be costing customers of the platform. The company also noted that it's already compensated about 90% of losses for the upcoming reopening of withdrawals scheduled for Sunday.
