👀 JUST IN: Michael Saylor hints at another Strategy Bitcoin purchase, posting "We found room for even more orange."
The post was his usual Sunday tracker chart. Strategy typically discloses purchases in an SEC filing the following Monday, and the same phrase preceded a 267 BTC buy last month. Last Sunday he skipped the chart entirely, and Strategy bought no bitcoin that week.
The chart shows Strategy holding 848,517 BTC, worth about $66 billion, with an average cost of $75,446 per coin. That puts its stack up only 2.73%, or about $1.76 billion, as Bitcoin trades near $77,000. If BTC dips below Strategy's average cost, its entire position would be underwater.
Context matters here. Strategy has been prioritizing buybacks of its STRC preferred stock over bitcoin, repurchasing $205 million last week and boosting that program to $3 billion. It holds about $5.1 billion in US dollar assets. It has also sold some bitcoin this year, and its stock faces a pending MSCI rule change.
Whether Monday brings a small top-up or a bigger move, the market will be watching. Strategy buys are no longer the automatic bullish signal they once were.
