🚨 FBI Confirms North Korea Behind Binance Crypto Hack
The latest development in Binance’s $6.3 billion security incident has taken a serious turn.
The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has officially attributed the theft of more than $6 billion in cryptocurrency from Binance to North Korea-linked hackers known as TraderTraitor.
According to the FBI’s October 31 announcement, the attack took place on or around October 29, 2026. Investigators observed the stolen assets being converted primarily into Ethereum (ETH).
The FBI is working alongside the U.S. Secret Service and IRS Criminal Investigation. The agencies have urged cryptocurrency exchanges and blockchain operators to block transactions connected to wallet addresses associated with the attackers.
What makes this incident particularly concerning is the scale. More than $6 billion in digital assets were reportedly stolen, making it one of the largest cryptocurrency thefts ever reported.
Binance has also been working to restore confidence among its users. The exchange says it will cover the financial impact of the incident itself, and it has already replenished approximately 90% of the affected assets.
However, the investigation is still ongoing. The FBI expects the stolen funds could be moved through decentralized finance platforms and instant swap services as part of further laundering attempts.
For me, this is another reminder that even the largest crypto platforms are not immune to sophisticated attacks.
The real challenge now is tracking the stolen funds, strengthening security, and making sure users do not pay the price for someone else's actions.
