Spot Gold & Silver | Oct. 20 close
Gold fell to $4,124.10, down 0.38%, while silver outperformed, rising 1.59% to $57.88.
Gold remained under pressure despite weaker housing data and a modest pullback in yields. Persistent inflation and elevated expectations for a December Fed hike—around 92–94%—continued to weigh on bullion. Oil reversed lower amid mixed U.S.–Iran headlines, but the move didn’t bring sustained buying into gold.
What moved markets
September housing starts fell 5.2%; pending home sales were down 7.3%.
CPI and PPI remain elevated.
The 10-year Treasury yield eased to around 5.116%.
Oil pulled back after conflicting reports on Hormuz diplomacy.
Levels to watch :
🥇Gold: Resistance at $4,147–$4,176, then $4,201–$4,218. Support at $4,119, followed by $4,100 and $4,074.
🥈Silver: Resistance at $57.86, then $58.70–$59.37. Support at $57.39, $56.92 and $56.34.
Gold remains sensitive to Fed expectations and yields. Softer claims or PMI data, or a further drop in oil, could ease some pressure. Sticky inflation or renewed oil-related geopolitical risks could keep it in place. Silver has stronger short-term momentum, but remains exposed to concerns about growth.
