#WSJ 📈or📉?Cathie Wood is bullish on memory chips, but BofA warns it's not yet time to buy the dip in risk assets⚠️🤔

Cathie Wood recently said memory chips have entered a buy zone. Her reasoning: memory prices rose too fast and electronics sales have dropped sharply, and that is already priced into the stocks.

Meanwhile, Michael Hartnett, Chief Investment Strategist at BofA Global Research, pointed out that the end of a sell signal doesn't mean it's time to buy. Neither of the two conditions for getting back into risk assets has been met yet.

Both carry serious weight. Wood founded ARK Invest and is one of Wall Street's best-known contrarian investors, buying what others are dumping. She made her name in 2020 with a big bet on Tesla, and this time she's eyeing Korean memory stocks.

Hartnett created BofA's "Bull & Bear Indicator," one of Wall Street's most closely watched contrarian timing tools. After it triggered a sell signal in May 2026, global stocks fell for the next three months.

So a top buy-side name and a top sell-side strategist are at odds. One says buy, the other says stay defensive.

What to watch next:

1.Whether DRAM/NAND contract price increases keep slowing

2.Whether the decline in smartphone and PC shipments starts to ease

3.Whether memory's share of device bill-of-materials costs has peaked

4.Whether memory makers shift capacity back to consumer products
