Germany’s Sparkassen savings-bank network has begun a phased rollout of cryptocurrency trading inside its existing banking app. The first participating institutions can offer customers access to $BTC , $ETH , $XRP , $SOL and Polygon. The German Savings Banks Association (DSGV) says 30 to 40 additional Sparkassen are expected to join each month, but there is no single nationwide launch date.
The service, branded “Krypto - powered by Deka,” is provided by DekaBank, which handles custody in cooperation with Börse Stuttgart. Customers at participating banks open a crypto account in the Sparkassen app and make their own trading decisions. The banks do not plan to provide individual crypto investment advice or actively promote the product.
This marks the start of customer access after earlier rollout plans, not a claim that every Sparkassen customer can trade today. DSGV continues to warn about volatility and the possibility of total loss.
