BTC dominance is one of the most underused tools in altcoin timing — and most traders ignore it until it is too late.

Here is the pattern worth watching:

When $BTC dominance rises sharply, it usually signals one of two things: a risk-off flight to the "safer" crypto asset, or early-cycle capital entering the market through Bitcoin first. Both are actually constructive for alts — just with a delay.

The real rotation signal comes when dominance peaks and starts rolling over. That is when capital begins migrating down the risk curve: large-cap alts like $ETH and $SOL first, then mid-caps, then speculative plays.

What makes cycles different is the depth of that rotation. In 2021, capital reached deep into micro-caps. In 2023, it mostly stayed in the top 20. The difference? Liquidity, narrative density, and institutional risk appetite.

Right now, the setup that matters most is not whether alts pump — it is whether dominance rolls over with sustained volume behind it. A shallow reversal with weak volume is a trap. A sustained rollover with stablecoin dry powder entering is the real signal.

Watch $ETH and $SOL as secondary indicators. They tend to move early and confirm whether the rotation is broad or narrow.

Patience here is not passive — it is strategic. Dominance tells you when the tide is shifting. Position before the crowd notices.
