I saw Mystic Trading post today - XAGUSDT Perp showing -3,451.55 USDT loss, XAG down -1.14%, with 94.9K views and 57 comments. This is not just one person's loss, many beginners are losing same way in XAG and XAU.
My observation: XAG and Gold are not like BTC. One 1m candle can move 2-3%. If you use 20x-50x leverage without stop loss, one red candle wipes all assets. This trader asked "hold or closed?" - This question itself shows no risk management plan was made before entry.
My 3 rules that saved me from -30% losers:
Rule 1: Risk 1% Only - I never put more than 1-2% capital in one trade. If I have $1000, I only risk $10-$20. Even if SL hits, I have 99 trades left.
Rule 2: Stop Loss Before Buy Button - For XAGUSDT, I always set SL below support. Without SL, you are gambling, not trading. I keep SL at -3% to -4% max for silver.
Rule 3: Cut Half, Save Half - When in -20% loss, I close 50% immediately. This reduces liquidation risk and mental pressure. Holding full loss hoping for reversal is biggest mistake.
My plan: No trading in XAG today. I focus on BTC high liquidity. When fear is high, I keep 70% in stable. Capital protection first, profit second.
