Current snapshot (Oct 17):
- $BTC: ∼$81.6k, defending $80k for the 3rd time this week. ETFs just flipped from -$729M outflow to +$5M inflow. Weak but stabilizing.
- $SOL: ∼$105 reclaiming $100. Down -8% last week vs BTC -2.1%, classic high-beta behavior.
- Mindshare: SOL 16.74% > BTC 6.48% > ETH 3.93% — narrative is with SOL, price is still with BTC. f72286df8bad9728
The Flow Right Now:
BTC is leading. When BTC dumped to $79.8k, SOL dumped harder to $102.49. When BTC bounced to $82.5k, SOL bounced to $107.44. This is risk-off rotation: capital hiding in BTC, not alts.
ETF data confirms it: BTC, ETH, SOL ETFs all negative for October so far. SOL ETFs -$24.8M month-to-date, 9 straight days outflow. 26bc
Upcoming Flow — 2 Scenarios:
1. BULLISH (needs BTC > $84k):
BTC closed above $80.4k low = bear trap. Next trigger is $84k — where CPI pump failed. If BTC breaks $84k with 2 days of ETF inflows, expect SOL to lead.
SOL levels: Break trendline → $113 → then $125. Meyka 12-month target $172 (+56% from here) still in play. 0a11
2. BEARISH (BTC loses $79.8k):
If BTC loses Thursday's low ($79.8k), SOL has minor support at $104.5, major at $97. Below that psychological $100 breaks and $97 is next. 0a11
My take:
BTC is bottoming, not pumping yet. SOL will underperform BTC for a few more days, then outperform hard on the BTC breakout. Don't chase green candles in consolidation — accumulate $103-$105 zone with stop below $97.
Alpenglow upgrade Oct 21 could be the catalyst if BTC holds.
