🎓 From Crypto Narratives to Bond Markets Another Step in My Learning Journey.
Today, I completed Binance Academy’s Understanding Bonds course, and one concept really caught my attention. 👀
Imagine buying a bond that pays 5% interest, only to see new bonds offering 7%. Why would anyone pay the same price for your lower-interest bond?
That’s when I understood how powerful interest rates can be. When market rates rise, existing bond prices generally fall. When rates drop, older bonds with higher coupon rates can become more attractive. 📉📈
Three key lessons I’m taking away:
Coupon vs. yield: The interest a bond pays and the return you get at its market price aren't necessarily the same.
Risk is part of the game: Interest rates, inflation, and the issuer’s ability to repay all matter.
Markets are connected: Understanding bonds helps build a bigger picture of borrowing costs, investor behavior, and the forces that can influence stocks and crypto.
I’ve spent time learning crypto narratives, but understanding traditional financial markets adds another layer to how I look at the bigger picture.
One course completed, more knowledge gained. The goal isn't just to follow the market it's to understand what moves it and why. 📚
👇 What do you think has the biggest impact on markets: interest rates, liquidity, or investor sentiment?
