Starknet is seriously considering leaving Ethereum to become its own Layer 1

True to its word, just one week after announcing it wants to move from L2 to L1, Starknet has opened a vote to get input from STRK holders.

According to StarkWare, becoming an L1 would let Starknet drive its own quantum-resistant security upgrades instead of depending on Ethereum's timeline, which is targeting 2029 for protocol-level protections.

So far, over 99% of votes are in favor. That said, this is only a vote to back the research, not a decision to leave Ethereum yet.
