Bitcoin ETFs Just Lost $261 Million. Is Institutional Demand Weakening?
U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded approximately $261.46 million in net outflows on October 14, reversing the previous day's $175.62 million in inflows.
What caught my attention is where the withdrawals came from.
- Fidelity FBTC: −$152.73 million
- BlackRock IBIT: −$110.94 million
- Bitwise BITB: +$2.22 million
This matters because ETF flows offer a useful window into demand through traditional investment channels.
But I wouldn't treat one negative session as proof that institutions are abandoning Bitcoin.
The bigger concern is the combination of persistent outflows, weakening prices, and a less favorable macroeconomic environment. On October 15, Bitcoin was trading near $80,743 after hotter-than-expected U.S. inflation data increased concerns about further Federal Reserve rate hikes.
The market needs to demonstrate that buyers can absorb selling pressure before we can confidently call this a recovery.
Will ETF inflows return, or will withdrawals continue to dominate?
That answer may tell us more about Bitcoin's near-term strength than the daily price swings alone.
