Fellow Binancians,

Binance is expanding its Stock Options offering with the launch of Covered Call and Cash-Secured Put strategies. These two new short-side strategies allow users to sell (write) options contracts while holding the required collateral, earning premiums as income.

As part of Binance's growing TradFi product suite, Covered Call and Cash-Secured Put give traders new ways to generate yield on existing stock holdings or target entry prices for stocks they want to own — all from the same Binance account used for Stock Options trading.

What Are Covered Call and Cash-Secured Put:

Covered Call is a strategy where you hold shares of the underlying stock and sell a call option against those shares. You collect a premium upfront. If the option is assigned, your shares will be sold at the strike price. Your upside is limited to the strike price, while the premium offsets part of any downside loss.

Cash-Secured Put is a strategy where you sell a put option while setting aside the full cash amount needed to buy the shares if assigned. You collect a premium upfront. If the option is assigned, you will be required to buy the underlying shares at the strike price, even if the market price is lower. The premium offsets only part of the loss if the stock falls sharply.

Both strategies require collateral — shares for Covered Call, cash for Cash-Secured Put — which is frozen until the position is closed, the option expires, or the option is assigned.

How to Start Trading Covered Call/Cash-Secured Put on Binance:

  1. Open an account: Ensure your account is enabled for Stock Options. If not, complete the Options Suitability Quiz and sign the Disclaimer.

  2. Hold underlying shares (Covered Call) or enough USDC: Ensure you hold the underlying stock in your account that supports stock options trading. Alternatively, ensure you have sufficient USDC in your Funding Account.

  3. Navigate to Options: Go to the Stock kline page and select the "Options" tab.

  4. Select a Call/Put option: Choose an expiration date and strike price from the options chain.

  5. Switch to Sell: Toggle the order form to "Sell". The system will display Max Sell — the maximum contracts you can sell based on your available shares or USDC.

  6. Review Collateral: The Collateral field shows how many shares or USDC will be frozen as collateral for this order.

  7. Preview and confirm: Click "Preview". If this is your first time selling to open, a Covered Call Risk Notice/Cash-Secured Put Risk Notice will appear. Review and click "Confirm" to proceed to the order confirmation page.

  8. Place the order: Review the order details and click "Confirm" to place your order.

Stock Options are contracts that give you the right, but not the obligation, to buy or sell the underlying Securities at a specified price on or before a specified expiration date. You pay a Premium to acquire this right. Stock Options do not represent ownership of the underlying Securities. Stock Options can be exercised at any time before the cut-off time on the relevant expiration date. You are solely responsible for monitoring your open Stock Option positions and determining whether to exercise them. To exercise a Stock Option, you must submit an exercise instruction through the Binance Platform. If you do not submit an exercise instruction before the cut-off, your Stock Option will be subject to auto-liquidation, meaning that your position will be sold on a best-efforts basis before the close of trading. Your Stock Option may expire without value and you may lose the entire Premium paid. Even if your Stock Option is in-the-money at expiration, it will not be automatically exercised unless you have submitted an exercise instruction.

Stock Options are subject to high market and liquidity risk and price volatility. The value of your investment may go down or up and you may not get back the amount invested.
