Tomorrow at 20:30 Beijing time, U.S. September CPI will be released—the last major inflation report before the Oct. 27–28 rate meeting. The previous readings were 3.4% headline and 2.4% core; consensus expects headline inflation to rise to around 3.6%, mainly due to September’s sharp gains in energy and gasoline. This “hot headline” is probably already priced in; what will really determine the direction is whether core inflation holds at 2.4–2.5%. The market has already moved: $BTC 83,454, up 2.28% over 24 hours, and $ETH +3.06% back to 2,507; the Fear & Greed Index is at 62, in “Greed” territory. But daily data shows BTC’s annualized volatility over the past 30 days was 38.8%, with a range of 75,644–86,620. It’s up 6.7% overall, yet still hasn’t broken out of its range—before the data, traders are only willing to trade the range. The combination of a hot headline and cool core is most likely to produce an intraday “fake dip, then recovery” scenario. Traders using maximum leverage are betting on one direction, but the market could deliver both. Will you reduce your position before the data, or stay in and wait for the core reading? #CPIWatch $SOL
