One of Ethereum’s co-founders, Vitalik Buterin, believes that advances in artificial intelligence could put the security of cryptocurrencies at risk sooner than expected.
According to Buterin, AI could achieve mathematical progress in just two years that would normally take 50 years. This could lead to the discovery of new vulnerabilities even in some encryption methods considered secure against quantum computers.
For this reason, Buterin stated that Ethereum is focusing more on hash-based signature systems. However, he also warned users not to panic or rush to change their wallets.
