The New York Attorney General has secured a settlement requiring former Celsius CEO Alex Mashinsky to pay up to $35 million to New York. The settlement also imposes a lifetime ban from the securities and cryptocurrency industries. The payments have conditions tied to federal forfeiture and sentence compliance. The Attorney General says Mashinsky misled hundreds of thousands of investors, including more than 26,000 in New York, about Celsius's safety. Mashinsky is serving a 12-year federal prison sentence in a parallel criminal case.
