China's top leadership called for a national blockchain network as one of 19 measures in a new economic blueprint. The Communist Party's Central Committee and the State Council issued the policy on October 9. The blueprint does not mention Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency, and crypto trading remains illegal in mainland China. The document warns officials against creating bubbles and abandoning the real economy for the virtual economy. Follow-up rules will show what the network carries and whether cryptocurrencies remain excluded.
