🚨 MONDAY'S OPEN IS WALKING INTO A TRAP The S&P closed the week at 7,812, right near its record. Everyone's celebrating into earnings season. Look underneath and the picture is completely different. Here's what's stacked against Monday: Yields at 2002 levels. The 30-year is at 5.60%, the 10-year at 5.23%. These are the highest in over two decades. When risk-free money pays that much, stretched valuations have to justify themselves, and most can't. Oil won't cool off. Brent is hovering around $105 with WTI near $92. Hurricane Isaias just shut in roughly 63% of Gulf oil output, and Middle East escalation is still feeding the bid. That's an inflation shock on top of an inflation problem. The Fed is talking hikes, not cuts. Waller said outright that multiple rate increases may be needed to bring inflation down in an acceptable timeframe. The Oct 27-28 meeting is live. AI valuations are cracking. Thursday delivered a tech-led selloff on exactly that fear. Chipmakers erased their rally Friday. The names holding up the entire index are the ones wobbling.
