I assumed this week's story was simple: $ETH is weak, so $BNB must be strong. The data is more careful than that. ETH dropped more than 9% over seven days to about $2,485, with ETF outflows nearing $1 billion over two days, while BNB held near $738. That put BNB up about 3.3% against ETH on the week and 32.3% over a year, with the ratio near 0.29. But BNB didn't rally, it fell less: over the same stretch ETH dropped 5.0% while BNB lost 2.4%, and a ratio chart only shows that relative gap. The exchange data points the same way. Binance's proof of reserves shows $537 million moving into Bitcoin and $499 million out of ETH in September, with ETH balances down 4.61% and BNB balances down just 0.77%. Santiment also found bearish ETH posts outnumbering bullish ones as October began, the weakest ETH sentiment since June 7. That reads like $BTC first, ETH last, and BNB mostly untouched. One explanation is conviction, since people hold BNB because they use it. The other is inertia: few were buying, so few are selling. This data can't separate the two, and it is a one-day wallet snapshot from one exchange, not a full audit. What would help is how the ratio behaves next. $2,400 is the next ETH support analysts are watching. If ETH bounces there and BNB lags, the ratio gain was just defense. If BNB holds while the market falls again, that is a stronger signal. If ETH is what people are leaving and BNB is what they're keeping, is BNB winning, or just not being tested yet?
