⚡ Aptos’ 210M APT Pledge Has a Key Detail: The Tokens Aren’t Being Burned

The Aptos Foundation says it will lock and permanently stake 210 million APT—about 37% of the tokens it held at mainnet launch.

CONFIRMED: The Foundation published this commitment as part of its tokenomics update. It says the tokens will not be sold or distributed, and staking rewards will help fund its operations.

That’s a long-term supply commitment, but it is not a token burn: the APT remains staked to support network security and generate rewards.

Separately, Aptos says the four-year vesting schedule for early investors and core contributors concludes on October 12. The Foundation’s update estimates this will reduce annualized unlocks by about 60%; it does not mean all APT emissions stop.

The takeaway: Aptos is tightening its planned supply path, but the 210M lock and lower future unlocks should not be confused with removing tokens from existence.
