In crypto, trustless means a system works without you having to trust any particular person: the rules are enforced by code and by the network, not by a company's promise. A bitcoin transfer settles because the network agrees it is valid, not because someone approved it.

The word gets stretched, though. The protocol may be trustless while everything around it is not - the website you use, the app on your phone, the counterparty on a P2P order, the stranger who sent you a link. Trustless settlement removes one kind of risk. It does not remove the need to check who and what you are dealing with before you press send.

💬 Where in your own crypto use are you still trusting someone without noticing?
