U.S. government-linked wallets transferred more than $100 million worth of Bitcoin and BNB on Tuesday, prompting market attention over the potential movement of seized crypto assets.

According to blockchain intelligence firm Arkham, the government transferred 833.599 BTC, worth approximately $71.6 million, to two unlabeled addresses. The Bitcoin was subsequently sent to addresses Arkham identifies as Coinbase Prime deposit addresses.

Bitcoin From Bitfinex and Forfeited Funds Moved

The transferred Bitcoin included approximately 568.7 BTC from Potapenko/Turogin forfeited funds and 264.9 BTC seized in connection with the Bitfinex hack case.

Separately, a government-labeled wallet transferred approximately 40,285 BNB worth $31.63 million to an unlabeled address, which later moved the full amount to another unlabeled wallet.

The BNB originated from assets seized from Alameda Research.

Transfer Does Not Confirm Bitcoin Sale

Despite the movement to Coinbase Prime-labeled addresses, there has been no confirmation that the Bitcoin was sold.

The U.S. government reportedly continues to hold around $27.5 billion in seized cryptocurrency, with its holdings originating from enforcement actions rather than taxpayer-funded purchases.

The distinction is important because blockchain transfers alone do not establish whether assets have been liquidated, transferred for custody or moved for another purpose.
