The CFTC just started writing a federal rulebook for leveraged crypto trading in the U.S.
The agency is asking for comment on a new “crypto asset market” registration path for venues offering retail leveraged, margined or financed crypto trades. Ordinary spot exchanges could still remain under state licensing.
Nothing is final yet. Comments are open for 60 days.
Congress didn’t pass a market-structure bill. The CFTC is now testing what it can build with authority already on the books.
