Hyperliquid starts buying back $HYPE with USDC yield 👀
Just received the first payment from the AQAv2 framework: ~$14.58 million in USDC.
This is different from the usual buybacks:
• Not from trading fees, but from USDC reserve yield held on the platform
• ~90% of the yield (after costs) is routed to the Assistance Fund
• The fund then buys $HYPE on the open market and burns it
Previously, buybacks relied almost entirely on trading fees (already very aggressive).
Now there’s a second source that doesn’t depend on trading volume.
Estimated extra annual buybacks from AQAv2: $135–160M+.
Total potential yearly buybacks could exceed $900M+.
$HYPE’s deflationary model just got more stable.
