Nikkei 225 Surges 2.5% to a Three-Month High
Japan’s Nikkei 225 jumped about 2.5% on October 5, briefly moving above the 70,000 level for the first time in roughly three months.
The index eventually closed at 69,946.86, up 2.4%, marking a gain of more than 1,600 points.
🔹 AI and semiconductor stocks helped lead the rally, following strong gains in related U.S. technology shares.
🔹 Weaker-than-expected U.S. jobs data reduced expectations of another Federal Reserve rate hike this month.
🔹 The broader Japanese market also advanced, although Japan’s rising long-term bond yields remain an important risk to watch.
The move shows how closely Japanese equities remain connected to global technology sentiment and U.S. monetary-policy expectations.
For crypto investors, the rally is also worth watching: stronger risk appetite in global markets can influence flows into other higher-risk assets, including digital assets.
