🌍 **CRYPTO POLICY WATCH — U.S. + INDIA**
Two different regulatory signals are landing at the same time.
🇺🇸 **U.S.: SEC pushes clearer crypto custody rules**
The SEC has proposed rules aimed at creating a clearer framework for investment advisers and funds holding crypto assets. The proposal focuses on custody, client-asset protection and operational requirements. It is **not final law**.
🇮🇳 **India: Parliament panel considers tighter crypto oversight**
A parliamentary panel is considering recommendations for stricter monitoring of crypto transactions and broader consultation on the country’s digital-asset framework. This is **under review, not a final policy decision**.
**MY READ**
The global direction is becoming clearer: governments are not ignoring crypto anymore — they are deciding how deeply it should sit inside the regulated financial system.
That creates two opposing forces:
→ Clearer rules can reduce institutional uncertainty.
→ Tighter monitoring can increase compliance costs and constrain some market activity.
For $BTC, $ETH and stablecoins, the long-term question isn't whether governments regulate crypto. It's **what parts of the stack they regulate — custody, exchanges, stablecoins, payments, tokenized securities or the assets themselves.**
**FACT:** SEC proposal is not final.
**FACT:** India's panel discussion is not final policy.
**ANALYSIS:** Regulatory clarity and regulatory intensity can rise at the same time.
**RISK:** Markets can react to headlines long before legislation or rules actually take effect.
