$TRUMP
🇺🇸🇮🇷 Most Americans will never see the Iran war up close, but they feel it every time they fill up the tank.

Diesel has jumped $2.72 a gallon since February to the highest price on record, and last week it hit records in 47 states, with the national average at $6.52.

That cost rarely stays at the pump, since diesel moves the trucks that stock grocery shelves and runs the tractors on American farms, so every extra dollar eventually shows up in the price of food and everyday goods.

The average household has paid about $1,026 more for gasoline and diesel since the war started, and roughly $1,380 once fertilizer and federal war spending are added in, AEI estimates.

The Congressional Budget Office also found higher energy prices added 2.3 points to U.S. inflation in the second quarter alone.

That's how a conflict on the other side of the world becomes a midterm issue, with farm-state Republicans like Iowa's Ashley Hinson now saying Iowans shouldn't be paying for the war at the pump or at the checkout line.

Geopolitics can feel abstract, but a grocery receipt never does.
