ENS Labs and the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) are exploring a way to link ENS domains with verifiable Legal Entity Identifiers (vLEI) so applications can confirm the institutional identity behind onchain domains. According to Foresight News, GLEIF is drafting a general framework to associate external identifiers such as ENS domains with vLEI credentials.

The next step will be to determine the specific implementation on the ENS side through an ENS Improvement Proposal (ENSIP). GLEIF will remain responsible for issuing, governing, and verifying vLEI credentials. The proposal is still under development.
