🚨 Bitget Hacker Moves $83M in Stolen $XRP
The Bitget security breach has entered another critical phase as blockchain data shows the attacker has moved approximately 54 million $XRP, worth around $83 million, from three of the wallets holding stolen funds.
The original attack involved nearly 103 million $XRP, which was distributed across five wallets. After the latest movements, approximately 49 million $XRP , worth around $75 million at the reported market price, remained across the original wallets.
🔎 Why This Matters
Unlike certain issued tokens on the XRP Ledger, native cannot simply be frozen by Ripple while it remains in an attacker-controlled wallet. If the stolen reaches a centralized exchange, however, that exchange may be able to restrict the receiving account and prevent withdrawals.
Importantly, moving $XRP between wallets does not prove that the hacker has sold it. The latest transactions show fund movement, while the final destination and any potential liquidation remain under observation.
Bitget has estimated the overall breach at approximately $387.5 million and has stated that its protection fund is intended to cover the losses, with customer balances reportedly unaffected.
📌 Key Takeaways:
• ~54M $XRP moved
• Value: approximately $83M
• ~49M $XRP reportedly remains in the original wallets
• No confirmed evidence that the moved has been sold
• Recovery efforts depend heavily on where the funds move next
The crypto community is now closely watching the blockchain for further movements of the stolen $XRP .
