🚨 Zcash Just Got a European ETP. But the Numbers Are Weird.
21Shares just launched Europe’s first Zcash ETP, listed on Euronext Paris and Amsterdam.
Sounds like a major institutional milestone. 👀
And yes — the timing is interesting.
ZEC has been ripping higher, while Grayscale’s U.S. Zcash ETF has reportedly crossed $500M+ in AUM.
But here’s where the story gets weird:
The new European ETP reportedly started with only around $100K in AUM.
That’s tiny compared with the headline around institutional demand.
Then there’s the 2.5% annual management fee — a pretty expensive price for simply getting ZEC exposure.
And roughly $100M of the U.S. ETF’s AUM reportedly came from DCG International Investments, a company linked to the issuer.
So the bigger question isn’t:
“Can Zcash get institutional access?”
It clearly can.
The question is:
Is institutional demand actually arriving — or is the infrastructure simply arriving first?
And here’s the plot twist:
You can buy a Zcash ETP without actually using Zcash privacy technology.
You get price exposure.
Not privacy.
That distinction could matter more than the headline.
Is Europe opening the door to real institutional ZEC demand — or building the door before the crowd arrives?
