Busan police said an account used by a text-message sending agency for the marketing department of a mixed-use shopping center in Sasang District was illegally accessed and used to send scam messages to more than 260,000 unspecified recipients. According to ChainCatcher, the messages claimed that a "crypto wallet has been updated" and urged recipients to install software quickly.

Police said users who clicked the attached link could be exposed to smishing attacks that steal virtual assets. Authorities have blocked access to the relevant account and are tracking the intruder.
