Federal Reserve rate expectations have shifted sharply ahead of the September 15–16 FOMC meeting. After August inflation showed renewed price pressure, an 85% majority of economists in a Reuters poll now expects a 25-basis-point hike, which would lift the target range from 3.50%–3.75% to 3.75%–4.00%.

Markets are also watching Chair Kevin Warsh’s guidance and the updated economic projections for clues about future policy. The decision comes as oil prices remain elevated and Treasury yields approach multi-year highs.
