Pakistan Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said the Mecca Defense Alliance treaty would be activated if Saudi Arabia were attacked. According to Sina Finance, he said any aggression against one member state would be treated as an attack on all signatories.

Asif made the remarks as Saudi Arabia suspended operations at several energy facilities in its south, while Yemen-based Iran-backed Houthi forces claimed a new round of strikes on Saudi Arabia. He also said the Houthis should understand that their actions could trigger the agreement. In an interview with Geo News, Asif said Pakistan was bound by the treaty's terms and would honor them if attacked.
