🚨 PAKISTAN CRYPTO UPDATE — SEPTEMBER 7, 2026
Pakistan’s crypto industry has entered a major regulatory phase under the Virtual Assets Act, 2026. 🇵🇰₿
🏛️ The Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (PVARA) is now responsible for licensing, supervising and regulating Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs).
📅 September 5 was a key deadline: transitional operators that had been operating since March 5, 2026 or earlier were required to submit an NOC application by that date or cease operations under Section 70.
🔐 Under the new framework, crypto businesses must meet requirements involving:
✅ KYC / AML compliance
✅ Cybersecurity
✅ Minimum capital
✅ Fit-and-proper checks
✅ Customer protection
✅ Business continuity
💱 The licensing framework covers exchanges, custody, brokerage, lending, derivatives, asset management, transfers and other virtual-asset services.
🏦 Another major development: State Bank of Pakistan now allows regulated banks to open accounts for PVARA-licensed VASPs, subject to strict compliance and due diligence. Banks may also provide limited-purpose accounts to PVARA NOC holders while they complete licensing.
🔥 Why this matters:
Pakistan is moving from an uncertain crypto environment toward a formal, regulated digital-asset ecosystem.
🌍 Potential benefits include greater transparency, stronger consumer protection, institutional participation and easier integration between regulated financial institutions and crypto businesses.
⚠️ But regulation doesn’t mean crypto is risk-free. Investors should still consider volatility, scams, security risks and the regulatory status of any platform they use.
💬 Do you think Pakistan’s new crypto regulations will accelerate adoption?
🐂 BULLISH 🇵🇰 — Regulation brings confidence
🐻 BEARISH — More regulation could slow innovation
