Li Auto said on September 7 that its self-developed battery has already been installed in the L8, L6 and i8, and will be rolled out across all of its models. According to Jiemian News, the company said the first deliveries of the new-generation MEGA use CATL's 5C ternary lithium battery, but once production preparations for Li Auto's self-developed battery are complete, the model will switch entirely to the in-house 5C ternary lithium battery.

Because orders for the new-generation MEGA in recent days exceeded expectations, CATL's 5C ternary lithium battery inventory is close to running out. Users who lock in orders at or after 3:00 p.m. on September 7 will be switched to Li Auto's self-developed 5C ternary lithium battery, with deliveries expected to start in November. Li Auto also said the all-new i9, a six-seat family flagship SUV, will be officially unveiled in mid-September and will initially use CATL's 5C ternary lithium battery before switching to the self-developed version after production ramps up. The 2026 Li Auto i6 is scheduled for launch in the fourth quarter, with pre-orders opening at the end of September and deliveries starting in early November.
