How do you judge whether a shanzhai coin is worth holding long term?
For me, the simplest test is consistency in market performance.
Right now, most altcoins are on the gainers list today and losers list tomorrow. That’s usually nothing more than a cartel pumping the price to distribute into the market. If you can catch a profit, take it and leave—ZKC, ZKP, TUT, POL are good examples. The project teams have basically given up, while the cartel may still have tokens left. When the overall market gets stronger, they pump another wave and dump onto whoever chases it.
But altcoins that maintain sustained market momentum are different. It suggests the team hasn’t completely abandoned the project and the token is still moving with the broader market.
Look at AAVE, UNI, ZEC, DASH, ZEN, MORPHO, CRV, etc. These are infrastructure or trending projects within the blockchain ecosystem. Compared with the others, these are much more suitable for medium-to-long-term positions, meaning holding through an entire market cycle.
Choosing the right altcoins is extremely important right now.
If both the project team and the cartel have already abandoned a coin, trying to hold it for the long term doesn’t make you an investor—it just means you may waste an entire market cycle.
