Traditional finance is quietly expanding its crypto footprint. 🏦
Charles Schwab, overseeing roughly $13.1 trillion in client assets, plans to add Solana (SOL), Avalanche (AVAX), and Chainlink (LINK) to its Schwab Crypto platform in the coming months.
Here’s what stands out:
🔹 The expansion: Schwab is moving beyond its initial Bitcoin and Ethereum offering, adding three established crypto assets based on market presence and stated client demand.
🔹 The reach: The move could put SOL, AVAX and LINK in front of nearly 40 million brokerage accounts, giving investors access through a familiar traditional-finance platform.
🔹 The infrastructure: Crypto assets will be custodied through Charles Schwab Premier Bank, with execution handled by regulated partner Paxos. Trading is expected to carry a 0.75% fee.
There are also geographic restrictions, with the service unavailable to residents of New York and Louisiana, as well as customers outside the U.S.
Why it matters
The bigger story may not be the three tokens themselves.
It’s distribution.
When assets like SOL, AVAX and LINK become accessible through a major brokerage, the barrier between traditional portfolios and crypto becomes a little thinner.
But access doesn't automatically mean demand.
The real test begins when these products go live and Schwab's millions of customers decide whether BTC and ETH are enough — or whether they want exposure to a broader crypto market.
The bigger question:
Could traditional brokerages gradually make diversified crypto exposure feel as normal as buying stocks or ETFs? 🧠📈
